    Vernier sextant
    From: Alexandre Eremenko

After almost a year of intensive e-bay trading,
I finally bought a vernier sextant:-)
Since we were trading for the same sextant with George
(and George won it) there were only three sextants on e-bay
which I regrett that I did not win:-)

Anyway, my new sextant is a C. Plath with a vernier.
So it is definitely made before mid 30-s, the seller says probably in
    1890-s.
It has 3 scopes, a zero-tube and an eyepiece filter.
When it arrived, the scale was hardly
readable. But after some cleaning (with oil) it is OK now.
I had to disassemble most of it to clean and oil, and today I finally
made the first rough adjustment of the index and side errors.
(Index error was 10' when it arrived).

Now I am trying to fix the box (which arrived essentially in pieces:-(

As soon as the weather permits I will report on the sights with this
sextant. (I always wanted to compare the advantages and disadvantages
of a good vernier sextant vs a modern one. So now I finnaly have
    this opportunity.

    Alex.
