Most definitely, and yes I've done them, as have others. Just pre-set your sextant to the estimated angle. At 0h GMT for 9-13-2010 (a few hours from now as I type this), the lunar distance will be about 19.5 degrees. It is increasing at a rate of about 13 degrees per day.
