Re: Varuna -- Abandoned due to Loss of Power

    Hello!

Yes, definitely, a spare GPS/GLONASS receiver will save a mariner in case of the main nav-system failure. But the question remains - how long will he be able to use it - like in the Varuna's case - if there is no power on board? Or, heaven forbid! - if he is on a life-raft?

I was also to ask a question - how do people keep their NAs/tables/etc from being soaked? Just a water-tight packing or some water-proof spray used on the paper?

    Regards,

    Tony
