Let's not forget about astigmatism. There are fun and weird effects. I first learned that I had correctable astigmatism when = signs and - signs on my computer screen LOOKED THE SAME! Drug Store readers do NOT have astig correction. I attach a clever approach which will allow you to remove your glasses if you have astigmatism. Then all that remains is spherical focus which, as mentioned can be corrected by eyepiece focus. There are astigmatism correcting eyepieces for astronomical telescopes but I thought this McGyver approach was very clever and I'm going to try it myself. I've got some 'beater' prescription glasses that I can harvest a lens from. - or just go to Lenscrafters and ask for a lens with your astig correction and no spherical power or with your 'far' correction. Then, you have to rotate the lens for best image because you need to have the axis of the cylinder lens in the correct orientation with respect with your astig.
