    George,

My understanding is no.  The artificial horizon is the horizon for your shot.  Substract out height of eye and apply refraction and any other corrections you may have and that is it.

    Dennis,

I don't mean to be a smart alec or anything like that but, should I just walk around until I see the sun reflected in my artificial horizon?  Should I step back further away from the artificial horizon when the sun is closer to the land horizon and closer to the artificial horizon when the sun is higher up?

    Andrew

I also was recently fiddling with the artificial horizon. I would like to add a question. Do you need to subtract the elevation of the artificial horizon?

If the land you are standing on is 300 feet above sea level... you are 300 feet above the horizon, correct?
