I'm a fan and regular user of a linux program called gnumeric. I've never even looked for documentation. I just pull my old Excel book from MS off the shelf and look there. As Frank says most spread sheet programs work very hard at being Excel compatable, and largely succeed. (When running non-EXCEL, I do miss macros and the ability to link easliy to BASIC.) "... Do you still have the Excel manual?? Calc is largely functionally equivalent to the previous version of Excel. The only substantial difference, from my experience, is the layout of the menus. Your Excel manual should serve as the "monolithic, tell-it-all" reference and then all you need is a sort of "decoder ring" to find out where the various functions are tucked away in the Calc menu system. Maybe you can put up with the unpleasant built-in help, just for that one use. ... -FER" --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
