    Hi Bill,

Yes you can use a calculator, just make sure it doesn't have any celestial information programmed in it.  The questions are all based on the 1981 NA, which is available as a reprint and supplied to you in the exam.  In addition you will have Vol II of Bowditch (1984) and HO 229.  You may bring in a starfinder, but there is not one supplied in the exam.

There is a specific way of solving these questions, so a study guide or mentor is highly recommended.  Most of the guides have some sort of charge associated with them.

Are you looking to take operational level or management level?  The operational level features the more common questions and the management level tests feature some really exotic stuff.

I have taken 3 of these exams, and mentor people regularly, so if you have a specific question, feel free to ask me directly by email.

    Jeremy
