    A "bar" is a standard that approximates atmospheric pressure. It is the same as 100 kPa (killo Pascals) But standard atmospheric pressure is 1013.2 millibars or 29.92 inches of mercury. See attached link. There is an error in the Wiki in that all altimeters in the U.S. are adjusted by inches of mercury while those in Europe use millibars.
