    Jerry,
Thank you so very much for posting a most comprehesive review of the F-Tafel. I too obtained a copy from the Duke University Library, which is identical in all respects to your posting,, have copied it, and am in the process of translating it. You have saved me a tremendous amount of work - many thanks!  I hope shortly to work a few problems utilizing these tables and will post accordingly. BTW, in searching for a copy of F/Tafel I did learn that there is a  modernized version available through the German Hudrographic Office for a cost of about $35.00 (US).

Hello all, a few months ago I posted about wanting to use my sextant like a U-boat Navigator.  In the months since I have obtained the F-Tafel, a book with the German WWII era sight reduction tables, and a copy of the German 1941 Nautical Almanac.  I  created a set of pages with links to download PDF versions of these publications and view translations of the introductory pages with notes on the various tables.  You will also find a summary of the sight reduction procedure (with or without notes), sight reduction forms (in German and English) and a set of sample problems intended to explore the use of the various tables. http://uboatarchive.net/F-Tafel/Navigation.htm  I am only a beginner in celestial navigation and would appreciate any comments, corrections or suggestions from the group.
