Windless conditions for the whole of USCG Eagle's passage across the pond, even in high summer, are exceeding rare - hence memorable.
I had the pilot information card somewhere but a quick search has failed to find it, so I am unable to pin down the dates.
The ship was originally named after Horst Wessel, a notorious nazi thug and the inspiration for his party anthem.
