Yup ...I learned GMT and Z time in navigation ages ago. Still what I think of as time...true solar..
UTC = while we usually ignore the difference... UTC isn't dead on..hence the periodic leap second corrections...I remember having spent wasted time in the past puritanically and ridiculously correcting luners from UTC off my " atomic" clock watch to GMT proving that my engineering OCD far outweighs my common sense.
UT1 is my understanding the closest match for true GMT (ready to be a slapped and corrected here)
With a bunch of others...2, 3, 4, etc... just to confuse simple minds like mine...
