    Gary:

Re the "eyewitnesses" you mentioned, given past performances, including the conflicting stories sometimes told by people who were all "eyewitnesses" to the same situation, one might well question such evidence or testimony.

This is NOT to say that the tellers of conflicting stories are lying, they probably aren't, but different people have been known to tell markedly different stories in describing the same happening.. Years ago, in the N.Y. Times Sunday Magazine, there wan an article describing bank robberies, there were a rash of them at that time, in suburban banks.

In one case, there was no shooting or violence involved, a single person “stuck up” a branch bank at about noon, people all over the place, a number of “eyewitnesses” standing within a few feet of the robbery while it took place. The single robber walked out of the bank, loot in hand, and disappeared into the crowded street.

In any event, the police, when interviewed commented on the futility of searching for a “tall, short, thin, heavy set man, in shirtsleeves, a jacket and slacks, a suit and tie”, it went on in that vein, all from “eyewitnesses” to the activity of a single person, performing before their eyes, in a situation that could reasonably have been described as “unstressful“.

I imagine that, as you noted, "the mystery will be solved", though with or inspite of the "help" of eyewittnesses could be another question.
