As to the beauty of the engraved, perhaps embellished scale, no question about that. For use as a navigational instrument, as opposed to something hung on the wall and admired, perhaps a different story.
As I had mentioned earlier, to me it's academic, as my sextant shots are taken standing on the beach, or via a Davis Artificial Horizon, in the parking area of the apartment complex where we reside.
