    Position title: Program Manager, Treworgy Planetarium at Mystic Seaport
    Job Grade: Regular part-time, year-round position, 20 hrs. /week
    Department: Education
    Reports To: Director of Museum Education and Outreach
    Coordinates with: All Mystic Seaport Departments

    SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
    Coordinate, manage, train, and support the Treworgy Planetarium team of staff and volunteers in daily operations, programming, outreach, marketing, and equipment maintenance. Promote the Treworgy Planetarium and its related programming and courses. Plan and implement programs, classes, outreach and related activities. Select, procure, and maintain projectors, navigation equipment, telescopes, and other equipment. Successful candidate will have full budgeting and accounting responsibility for the Treworgy Planetarium within the constraints of the Museum's budget.     DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    - Promote the Treworgy Planetarium to the general public, schools, and affinity groups in order to increase attendance.
    - Prepare and disseminate marketing information on Treworgy Planetarium shows, classes, and course offerings.
    - Assess and where appropriate grow current partnerships (including UCONN Avery Point, Connecticut College, Thames Amateur Astronomical Society, Pine Point School, UCONN Storrs); and cultivate new partnerships.
    - Manage staff.
    - Monitor budgets, income, and expenses for the Treworgy Planetarium.
    - Perform Planetarium programs for groups of all ages as needed.
    - Revise and update operating procedures manual for the Treworgy Planetarium.
    - Edit and maintain the contents of, and coordinate activities based on the Treworgy Planetarium section of Mystic Seaport’s Emergency Preparedness Plan.
    - Prepare and disseminate sunrise/sunset, and tide predictions.
    - Design and implement science and math activities.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    - Some knowledge of astronomy, traditional and electronic marine navigation
    - Some prior experience with planetariums preferred
    - Experience promoting programs
    - Excellent communication skills; both oral and written
    - Experience managing and training staff, volunteers, and budgets
    - Ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse population of staff, parents, teachers, and other external parties
    - Experience conducting programming for both adults and children
    - B.A. or B.S. in related field
    - Position requires sufficient eyesight, hearing, and physical stamina to conduct educational programming in Planetarium setting.

    Position is 20 hours per week, year-round. Some nights and weekends may be required.
