The bubble octant in your picture is a U.S.Navy Mk V without the averager. It looks to be in good condition. I have had very good luck by bubble and natural horizon with a similar octant. It will be interesting to see how the MK V and the Frieberger compare.

Heavy cloud cover and rain showers. No sights in the AM.
The photos are of my equipemnt. The bubble sextant is a Celestair that I found in a New Mexico antique store. It looked like it had been a mantle dust collector.
The photo of the bridge captures the third mate checking the main engine gauges.
