    And, to state the obvious, if the destination is east of you, and the destination latitude is the same as the starting point, then the rhumb line course is 090 degrees true; if to the west then 270 degrees true.

    Sure. If your destination is generally northeast of you then Zn = Az;
    If your destination is generally southeast of you then Zn = 180 - Az;
    If your destination is generally southwest of you then Zn = 180 + Az;
    If your destination is generally northwest of you then  Zn = 360 - Az.
