Thank you!
You asked:
"Your last paragraph would appear to indicate that in your opinion, this list now represents the practitioners of celestial navigation worldwide. Would you like to confirm that indeed your opinion?"
Well, it's hard to say, but I think it's very likely. I don't know of any other groups --and yes, I have looked-- that include even a small number of people with a hard-core interest in traditional and celestial navigation, either in the online world or otherwise. There are a few places where people have assembled fairly elaborate message boards, but they have almost no traffic. This is the only thriving community. There are far larger numbers of people with a casual interest in these topics or an interest that they do not wish to share socially. There are also significant groups of educators who use celestial as a teaching platform but are primarily interested in the topics that follow from it, like basic observational astronomy.
You suggested:
"If that is indeed the case, should there be more formal links and consultation between this list and those organizations whose business it is to serve the needs of practitioners of celestial navigation world wide?"
I agree. I think this deserves a separate discussion so please look for "NavList community formal organization".
