    Re: Towson's tables?

Towson was a man of many talents. I did not know anything about him until I read his biography:

    https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Page:Dictionary_of_National_Biography_volume_57.djvu/141

Note that Towson's investigations lead to the claim that a great circle sailing was the quickest way across the Atlantic. After Sir John Herschel drew the Admiralty's attention  to Towson's discovery that department published Towson's "Tables for Facilitating the Practice of Great Circle Sailing" and also his ex-meridian tables.

The site that claims to have  a reprint of Towson's tables is one of those annoying sites that claims downloads are free, allows you to register, and then as you are about to download the document asks for credit card details.  No way!!!!!

I will have to keep searching.
