Tried reducing the 10 sights by fitting a quadratic curve. Latitude misses by 10's of degrees. Just too little data, too far from noon, on only on side of noon. Tried using calculated altitudes instead of observed to check my calculations, still missed by 3 degrees in latitude. R factor for fit of quadratic was 1.0000. But the real shape of the curve in more complex than quadratic, extrapolating so far just doesn't work well. Would like to have seen a set from the other side of noon.
