Hi Frank
In discussing the binoculars that can be attached to my sextant, you mentioned that perhaps I could swing the arc as a function of the line of sight to the object being observed instead of the line of sight to the horizon.
Since we haven't yet met, you have no idea of the enormous size of my nose (hahahaha).
Seriously though, swinging the arc by that method will only change the amplitude of the swing. There will always be some angular motion of the binocular eyepieces relative to the vertical line of my nose.
Tell you what. This one you can demonstrate for me at Navigation Weekend. Just promise me you won't bleed all over the sextant when you twist your nose into a pretzel!!!! :-)
Best Regards
Brad
