    Gary,

    Your Alternative Table 2 (M.O.B.) is quite instructive. The formula is easy enough but it takes a bit of doing to internalize how fast +/slow - watch errors affect Ho/Hc and final intercepts.

    I have expanded your table on how to apply corrections (the one under your main table) to make clear to myself how the sign of the table entry watch error affects correction signs and how corrections are applied to either the observed or tabulated altitudes or an intercept change (towards/away).

    Did I get it right? Sorry for the extra line feeds in the table below. I don't know how to supress them.

                                      ---- or -->    --- or -->
                       Sign of     Apply to   Apply to
          Type of      Computed    Observed   Tabulated  Move
          Watch Error  Correction  Altitude   Altitude   Intercept

        |            | Az  0-179 |          |           |           |
        +------------+-----------+----------+-----------+-----------+
        | Fast (early)  +        | Subtract | Add       |  Away     |
