I'm with you there. Of course it isn't so important in the open ocean. But I think it is admirable to always strive for perfection. If I thought I could actually obtain an accuracy of 0.1nm, I would spend the rest of my life trying. (Occasionally, that is. Not non-stop. Lol.) Call it perfectionism... or OCD.
And seeing how I usually take sights from a beach with only about 170° of usable horizon, this probably applies to most of my rounds. I'll have to look again at some of my plots that I thought were way off. I'll let you know if I find anything pertaining to this discussion.
