What I stated is correct for correction and fixing a ship or boat of any size and situation of seas, weather and wind. The magnetic hand held compass in rough seas will introduce much random error but the best fix possible and the tighting of the triangle under conditions can be obtained by using the Franklin Piloting technique for bearings. The Celestral cocked hat will be out side when sights are with in 180 degrees even with sights are jumping around in heavy sea, they will still tend to be high or low,on one side or the other. Many Navigator can predict how they feel about each shot.
