1.The first class will be a free class to bring people for an introduction to a star finder that is a completely new invention. (It cannot be obtained any-where else.) The first class will demonstrate how the two-minute star finder works and instructions on its use.. There will be 15 or more star finders so that you as an individual can use the star finder as the class (2 hour) demonstration unfolds. The purpose is to let you use the star finder that is designed for simple and accurate use. The star finder will show the stars by name, bearing and altitude in your sky for any year, month, and hour-minute. (Past, present of future.) The star finder is complete and needs no other reference. The Star Finder will set your sky up for any time desired with stars within a few degrees of their actual appearance in the sky. Instead of using constellations to find stars relative to one another you will be able to find the stars by a bearing and altitude from you. The instructions will be on approximately (a fifth grade level(add and substract required.) This Star finder can do many other things including the addition of the Sun planets and moons.
    2. A week later, the second class will be held for further information on the star finder. At that class a $20 fee will be paid for the class and your personal star finder. Further instructions will be included so that the star finder can be used as a planetarium. The first free class allows you to inspect the star finder to see if you will want to attend the second week class and obtain the star finder.
    3. After the second week, those who wish to continue into celestial navigation will be given the opportunity. Your star finder will be used as a training aid for the study of celestial navigation. There will be a stop to the class if less than five persons at $35. agreed to attend. The object of the celestial navigation class is to enable class members to fill out a sight form for SUN lines, and STARS Lines, to plot them on a chart for a celestial fix. We in this area of Middletown, Newport, and Portsmouth are lucky that we can go to the beaches with a horizon and practice celestial navigation without going to sea. The two-minute star finder will give insight to the sight form and how the , Earth, Celestial Globe and horizon system works to get a fix for our position. The original reason for the two-minute star finder was to teach celestial navigation, but it was found to be an excellent source for locating stars by name and to planning occurrences in our sky. Note the two-minute star finder, members need not bring materials. The celestial navigation, members can bring any material they have a desire for show and tell. The instructor Byron Franklin QMCM ret. will bring his Sextant, some nautical almanacs, reduction tables NO 229 all sight form and plot.
