    Tamaya Jupiter Sextant
    From: Frank Hampshire
    Date: 1998 Mar 20, 8:06 AM

As I did not get any offers I thought I should say more about my sextant.
It is a Tamaya Jupiter WH with 7 power scope.

I copied the following from Celestaires online catalog.

    =================================================================

      THE TAMAYA SEXTANTS

The Tamaya sextants from Japan have lost some of their former
popularity because of the strength of the yen against the dollar.
Three models are available: the Spica (MS-733), the Jupiter (MS-833),
and the Venus (MS-933). The most distinctive feature of all of
the Tamaya sextants is their construction. The frames are of
aluminum alloy, but the arcs are of brass, which facilitates
      manufacturing to a higher accuracy.

      THE SPICA & JUPITER SEXTANTS

The Spica is the most expensive, but has no distinctively
better features than the Jupiter. Thus, the latter is the
more popular of the two. Both sextants are supplied with a
4x40 telescope, and a molded plastic case. Electric
lighting of both arc and drum is incorporated. Each sextant
is available in either whole horizon or traditional split
horizon mirror configuration. A 7x35 telescope is available
      as an optional extra.
