There is a copy of the "Tables Requisite to be used with the Nautical Ephemeris, For Finding The Latitude and Longitude At Sea", (T.Reqs, for short) from 1802 up for auction on ebay. The auction number is 160117499123. A scanned copy of this volume is available on googlebooks so if you're interested for the information content only, this auction won't be relevant. But if you like owning old navigation books, this is a nice one, and it's very rare. I already have a copy and won't be bidding. The auction is not titled well, so I thought I would point it out to the group. The "Tables Requisite" were a companion volume to the annually published Nautical Almanac. They contained the non-ephemeral data including tables for dip, refraction, etc., as well as trig tables, and appendices detailing how to solve various problems in navigation, including clearing lunar distances. Most of the navigation manuals in this period like Moore, Bowditch, and Norie used the Tables Requisite as a starting point. -FER --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ To post to this group, send email to NavList@fer3.com To , send email to NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
