    The International Standard Atmosphere is as your Aero friend says is 10 C
    and 1013.2mb but the various table makers tended to use their own for
    example:
    
    Norie (the oldest tables still on the go, not having been out of print
    since 1803) uses 10C and 1000mb
    Burton 10.C and 1010mb
    Inman 1015 and 50F (10C)
    Hughes 1000mb and 50F
    
    It does not really matter what base one uses provided you know which one
    your set of tables uses.
    
    What is quite another matter is the model used to generate the corrections,
    and there are many different ones, many of the tables using a different
    algorithm below and above about 10deg
