I remember reading an article many years ago that compared the innards of several watches. There was only one manufacturer (Seiko) that compared very favorably to a well known Swiss watch (Rolex). The comparison was partially based on close up photography of the inner mechanical workings of the watches. The machining and polishing of parts in both watches were beautiful. I don't remember the other watches mentioned in the article but they were rather crude looking under magnification. I also remember using a Rolex to set a device within a small window (10 or so seconds) for month on end. It was almost impossible beyond a few days. My friend used a Seiko (also mechanical) and he had much, much better results. I became very aware that price does not necessarily mean better performance or quality. Frank J. Rochester, NY
