You need a special tool for pulling the hands (but they're cheap). You might want to look at a book called "Beginner Watchmaking" by Tim Swike. He goes through the process of building a watch from components.
Both the paper book and the ebook are about $15 each. Cheap insurance against breaking small parts.

Does anyone on the List have experience with changing quartz watch movements ? I am contemplating putting in a new ETA movement in a quartz watch. Getting the stem out is not a problem but what is the proper way to pull and replace watch hands once the movement is out of the case ?
