    Yes. Sheer joy it is. I recommend everyone reads the last paragraph of the 
    book Sextant by David Barrie. Captures the epic wonder of it all beautifully.

       Rationale for astro?  The shere joy of doing a long by chrono, crossed with 
    an ex-meridian, under a moving sky, just like Cook and my great-grandfather.  
    Pity the man who doesn’t look up at night, because it’s dark, and there’s 
    nothing to see..
        I don’t have to do it in an open Boeing either, but I did, a week ago.
