We also checked the variance 500 years out, and if the structure is still standing, it will work.
Hm, but delta-T will move the time something like 20 minutes over that long span:
It's no less fitting and elegant a memorial for that. Like the azimuth of the pyramids, it inherently records the epoch of its construction, though via a different mechanism (delta-T vs. precession).
