    Norm,

Attached is an artificial horizon snap of the Sun using variable filtering. The Sun came through as a pair of blobs through the overcast. Picking the center by eye seems to work.

    Given:

    1/29/2016  21:37:14 UT  Lat. 27° 41.1' N  Lon. 80° 23.9' W

    .56 ( 3412 px ) = 1910.7' = 31° 50.7' - 20.4' corr. = 31° 30.3' Hs artificial horizon

    Hs 15° 45.1' - 3.3' refraction = Ho 15° 41.8'

    Hc 15° 41.3'

    Ho 15° 41.8'

    intercept 0.5' toward

    azimuth 239.5°

    LHA 60° 38.4'

    DEC 17° 53.7' S

    LAT 27° 41.1' N

Ive been using ImageJ for a number of many scientific projects, as well as an attempt to calibrate my iPhone camera.  Very easily locate the center of a bright pixel area, as it is easy to get a profile of a multipixel bright area.
