I was aware of The Society, though not particularly familiar with it. Took a look at their site, and re their Free PDF Download on The Slide Rule, that looks like quite a piece of work, all manner of "stuff" to be found therein. Thanks for reminding me.
The figuring that can be done with what today, might be considered a low tech device, is amazing. Electronic calculators are great, I use a 20+ year old HP 11C fairly regularly for sight reduction, but a slide rule, where 3 significant digits suffice, is handy, and they never run out of battery power either.
