    Wow!  That’s amazing.  You’re right.  I’d perceived the line of light was connected to the ground by an unlit portion, but I managed to magnify the HD photo to a tremendous scale, and there’s nothing there.  Near us here’s a large TV mast ‘Belmont Mast’, which has many lights up it to warn low flying aircraft.  It dictates the ‘IMC safety altitude’ for many miles around, and the local met men use it as one of their gauges of visibility distance.  I thought, wrongly as it turns out, it was something like that.
