The image above, was taken by Tod Iolovski, a meteorologist at Australia's Casey station. ''It was the longest aurora I have seen, lasting from 10pm 'til about 2am, and really intense, mesmerising. My hands were freezing but I just couldn't take myself inside. Everyone was rushing around taking photographs.''
