To Navlist contributors,
I've made only a few contributions to Navlist since the start of 2011,
triggering a number of off-list enquiries, individually and by groups,
asking if all is well weth me. It's most kind to find such an interest
shown, and perhaps this may be a good moment to explain.
For the last 5 or 6 years, I've been successfully treated here in Oxford to
fend off the effects of liver cancer, no doubt the result of years of
accumulated misuse. Recently, I've been told that these tricks will no
longer work, and to expect a severe diminution in my energy level.
Indeed, this is already becoming apparent. As a result, a severe stoking-up
of my argue-organ (wherever that may be located) is called for, before it
gets overheated enough to get involved in further Navlist discussion.
Similar effects may well already be giving rise to some relief among my
family, friends, and neighbours.
I hope that this will not cause me to be completely written-out of Navlist
contributions. With a bit of luck, I might well return. Already, I've
reached 76, which could be regarded as a fair "innings".
However, it seems a good moment to offer NavList, and its participants,
some enjoyable arguing into the future.
Yours, George.
