This from an inland navigator: I've broken my head trying to devise a way
to get the equivalent of a pool of mercury for inland use of an artificial
horizon. I've even tried putting a mirror on levers. Not satisfactory.
Now, with a 20 search on my new Android, I've found a bubble leveler that
seems to be pretty accurate. I haven't used it for taking star sightings,
but it seems that if you orient the 4 in. screen with its long axis pointing
toward the star and level the screen to 0, you could take a star sighting
right off the dark, glass face of the Android.
