Attached is a first calibration effort for the Samsung 5 mp camera in pro mode. Pro mode allows for fixing focus at infinity by holding a finger down over a distant area of sky. The wide angle is extensive and offers 50° of practical use. Now it is off to the beach for practical trials. Anticipating 4 moa precision for high altitudes and 2 moa precision for low altitudes. If repeatability is confirmed then the Samsung gets added to the onboard CN tool kit. Filtering the Sun is a bit fiddly. To do this I hold the cell phone upside down with the camera lens low then hold a piece of solar film over the Sun. Image is snapped with a press of the thumb.
