I have found that for me, a VERY good way to understand a table or method is to WRITE a spread sheet that generates the table or implements the method. You must work through the equations in some detail and implement the steps in your spread sheet logic. You can also display intermediate results to aid understanding. Implementing truncating and rounding properly should show the numerical accuracy of the method. Linking to plots in the spread sheet also helps understanding.
Works for me.
