Dan, WRT "I am wondering if the list pareticipents are aware that usin a Nav Log will ease working the problems." Are you suggesting keeping a nav log separate from the deck log? I'm usually busy enough that I just toss everything in a pre-bound common log...nav info, radio log, bell book, weather, first aid actions, maintenance actions, and anything else that I'd like to record. The Standing Orders, Station Bill, radio scheds, provisioning lists, equiment stowage diagrams, watch schedule sheets, and first aid guide are also bound into the log, resulting in a 1" thick, spiral-bound deck log. That means that there's always one book open at the nav station in which everybody can make entries without worrying about which log is appropriate. Your suggestion would certainly make the nav easier, but I'm afraid that I'd run into problems getting the crew to make the proper entries in the proper logs.
