    Well how exotic one gets depends on the budget. But for DR Mid-Latitude
    is fine using a calculator that does *scientific* and converts
    deg/decimal is a big plus. I used Mid-Latitude Sailing until I got an
    HP32SII calculator, then switched to Mercator Sailing. Having a
    programable calculator with sufficient memory you can apply free Rumb
    Line or Mercator Sailing formulas.
    For sight reduction a "short" table such as in the Nautical Almanac is
    fine. When I used H.O. 208 in after several reductions I could work a
    three sight fix in five minutes. There are also several free SR programs
    available for various calculators.
