    Sight-taking opportunity, navigation games, September 8, 2012

We took a few weeks off, but it's time to start up again, at least as long as the weather is still nice. Next sight-taking opportunity and navigation games will be 0900-1100 Sunday, September 8, once again by the Beavertail Lighthouse on Conanicut Island, RI. It's a nice morning for lunars with the Sun-Moon distance close to 90 degrees. Also, a bit earlier in the morning, there's an opportunity to try another method for finding longitude. Around 0738 (EDT, as seen from this locale), Jupiter will be just aligned with the horn's of the Moon and less than one degree away. It should be visible even in daylight.
