Thank you for your reply. I have read a lot on lunars and have tried several ( not very well ) but my question remains: Must the time derived from a luner always be used with a time sight?
Navigators ( and NavList members ) have always mixed and matched methods from different times. We use a 18th C. instrument - sextant- with a 21st C. cell phone to draw a LOP ( 19th C. ) onto a chart ( ~17th C. ).
If I lost GMT and had to get the time from a luner it seems that the more moderen LOP would be better than a time sight. I may be wrong.
Thanks. John H.
