The slide rule doesn't have anywhere near the capabilities of inexpensive ""scientific calculators"" commonly available today.
That having been said, slide rules are fine for some things, and they don't need batteries, at least mine don't.
Getting reacquainted with the slide rule is sort of like running into an old, long lost friend. If nothing else, it's an interesting experience, making one think.
