    Fred, I would suggest emailing the surviving Plath to ask them what glue is
    used and what solvent is appropriate for it, rather than experimenting. Or a
    repair house, R. White out of Boston may be willing to discuss this with
    you, they are very generous with sharing their wisdom rather than making UPS
    rich. They may say to simply replace the enter thing, or they may have
    replacements at a reasonable price. If two of your filters have simply
    fallen out--intact--then the glue should be something less than epoxy. (How
    did they fall without shattering?)
    I think using mounting rings would add bulk (thickness), weight, cost, and
    mechanical problems, as they corrosion-welded themselves into place in salt
    air, and people bent the frames out of shape trying to unscrew them. Or,
    they'd require a trip to a special repair shop.
