Hi Barry, Welcome to the world of celestial navigation. The art of get your position by taking sights of celestial bodies is very fascinating and grateful. I'm agreeing with the advice of Russell about Davis sextant, but I think that is not a good idea to buy a celesticomp. If you want to obtain solutions to the navigation problems without getting knowledge, then buy one. But if you want to learn about navigation, buy some good books, tables, or develop your own computer programs. Also you can calculate, if you wanted, the coordinates of the Sun, Stars, planets, You need time and desire. For checking your math, you can get via ftp on the net some freeware program.
