Has anyone tried to carry their sextant on board an
aircraft since 9/11 and all of the security foolishness that has come to pass
since then?
Prior to 9/11, I used to visit friends in the US on
a regular basis and brought my sextant with me to practice on the water. Even
back then, I got a lot of quizzical looks from the security drones but was able
to get through OK.
I am wondering what the situation is nowadays. I
cannot even imagine consigning my sextant to general baggage and would still
want to carry it on board with me but I can imagine that it must be a real
hassle to get it past the airport screening.
