Re: Sextant/3 Arm Or Gyro Bearing Pmp Plot

When I am onboard on my 8 m sloop near the coast, my favourite way to obtain a fix is using the 2 horizontal angles method with the sextant, (or its equivalent 3 bearings with a hockey puck compass). For its accuracy and because is no need to correct for deviation and magnetic declination.

As captain, navigator, mariner and chef!!!, is very difficult to do the navigational tasks alone, like plotting the fix on a paper chart. But I have used an ENC and my program “Chart Work” to plot successfully the fix.

Some pics of the tutorial of the program based on examples by the “école nationale de la marine marchande (ENMM) de Marseille” are attached.
