Practical trials using the point and shoot camera as the sextant scope did not go as well as expected. The first problem was being able to see the Sun on the camera screen in full daylight. The second problem was arcing the sextant to the lowest point. The resulting intercepts were in the 8 to 10 NM range in ideal conditions from shore. So it is unfortunately thumbs down for this method. Certainly not a method to be used from a small craft. The pictures were good though ;-)
