    Hello:

I hope to be there with my theodolite and surveying equipment.  I'll measure dip, show everyone how easy it is, and maybe determine the height of eye. Also establish a bench mark for future use?  For HoE I must get a person with
the  prism down to near the water. Maybe use other estimating techniques because rocks appear to make a tough
    climb.

However, if we can get a person to within 5 or 6 ft of water level,  we can get a pretty accurate value. I expect FER has been using this site for years and knows the  ground elevation .  There is probably a USCGS survey marker set in the rocks somewhere nearby. I'll try to find it in their system. Anybody seen one there?

I'll try to be early for setup.

    Bruce

    Saturday, September 28, Beavertail Point.
12:15 - 1:30pm. Note that local noon is right in the middle of this period, perfect for Noon Sun sights. The Moon will also be "in distance" so we can try lunars or get sights for a standard two-body fix. There is ample parking. We will be close to the lighthouse itself, either just south of it or possibly just west of it. Look for sextants.
